JEEVA MUSIC REVIEW
Staring : Vishnu, Sri Divya, Soori
Director : Suseenthiran
Music : D. Imman
Production : The Show People, The Next Big Film, Vennila Kabadd
Produced by The Next Big Film along with Arya’s Show People, Jeeva is marketed by Vishal Film Factory. A bankable film with cricket as its backdrop, it is directed Suseendhiran who has given us interesting films in the past such as Pandianadu, Naan Mahaan Alla and Aadhalal Kadhal Seiveer. Worth mentioning here, that this is the first album that all the three stalwarts from Vairamuthu’s shelter have penned the lyrics here. The trailer which was out by midnight has already been received with both hands, what about the songs?
Ovvundrai Thirudigirai : Singers – Karthik, Bhavya Pandit, Lyrics – Vairamuthu ( PICK )
A delightful melody to start off things for Jeeva. Everything goes right here, be it the vocals, lyrics or the music. You can’t ask for a better singer than Karthik to do justice to Vairamuthu’s lyrics, as he is well aided by Bhavya Pandit too. The interludes are in Imman’s signature style, with the delicate use of drums and saxophones doing the job.
Oru Rosa : Singers – Anthonydasan, AV Pooja, Lyrics – Madhan Karky ( PICK )
Imman goes out of the box this time, roping in Anthonydasan to croon an unconventional jingle. Madhan Karky is the best bet when it comes to lyrics which are slightly swaying towards the funny side, and that is exactly what this song demands. Don’t be too surprised if you find yourself addicted to this in the coming days.
Oruthi Mele : Singers - Abhay Jodhpurkar, El Fe Choir, Lyrics - Madhan Karky ( PICK )
Acapella for the first time in Kollywood, and Imman makes the best use of it. Abhay Jodhpurkar is a great pick for melodies these days as his heartwarming rendition along with the beautiful lyrics propel this track to greater heights. Except for the light instrumentations which have been put to minimal use, the music is mostly churned out from the throat which make it a unique song on the whole. A definite winner!
Sangi Mangi : Singers - Nivas, Malavika, Tha Mystro, Lyrics - Kabilan Vairamuthu
A party track with rap lyrics and a madcap tune. Imman catches hold of a phrase which keeps repeating itself over the course of the song. The music and the vocals are both heavy, as this might garner some attention at parties here-after.
Yenge Ponai : Singer – SP.Balasubramaniam, Lyrics – Madhan Karky ( PICK )
A touching composition from Imman, crooned to perfection by the living legend SPB. Yenge Ponai is a song sung in pathos, with emotional lines by Madhan Karky. SPB’s vocals are the linchpin of the song, which in itself create a superb feeling. The orchestrations do not hinder the flow of the song, and this is where Imman does the right thing – leaving it in the background.
Netru Naan : Singer – Sathyaprakash, Lyrics – Madhan Karky
A short and typical D.Imman number which stays loyal to his style. Sathyaprakash’s lovely vocals are what you can take away from this song.
Rather than sticking to a prototype, Imman ventures into new styles in Jeeva, which is highly appreciable and well received. The album is a concoction of eclectic tunes which will find a place on the charts pretty soon. There is at least one song to cater to each section of the listeners, which makes it a complete album on the whole. Imman has hit a boundary with Jeeva, and if the visuals do catch up, we might as well go for the home run.

Verdict : Lovable rhythms.
