Vai raaja vai music review

Staring : Gautam Karthik, Priya Anand, Taapsee Pannu

Director : Aishwarya R Dhanush

Music : Yuvan Shankar Raja

Production : Kalpathi S Agoram

Gautham Karthik and Priya Anand have joined hands with Aishwarya R Dhanush for Vai Raja Vai. With Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring the music, the expectations are high.  Let us see how the songs score…

Pachai Vanna Poove…Singer: Yuvan Shankar Raja, Lyrics: Madhan Karky (Cinemalead Pick)
The song is a rhyming melody. Easy singing by Yuvan makes it pleasant and the emotions of first love are conveyed well. Though the song cannot boast of any great/unique orchestration, the simplicity and freshness of the song will hook  you.
Vandha Kadha… Singer: Gana Bala, Lyrics: Gana Bala (Cinemalead pick)
Sung by Gana Bala, the song is a trade mark gana song. The song is an energetic foot tapping number and is something which gives you hope to prosper in life. There is a liberal sprinkle of the card game in the lyrics with use of Ulle Veliye  in the lyrics. The lyrics Vai Raja Vai intha vazhaka oru poi will be on the lips of the youngsters for a long time.

Naam Vaazhndhidum… Singers : Yuvan Shankar Raja and Hip Hop Tamizha
Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi has collaborated with Yuvan Shankar Raja for the first time with this song. This is not a great song and singing by Yuvan is average. Even Adhi’s rap could not lift the song to the expected heights. The song oozes energy and some attitude, and while playing the movie, the song will play to the gallery.

Pookaamazh... Singers: Yuvan Shankar Raja and Tanvi Shah Lyrics: Madhan Karky
This is a peppy number from the album by Yuvan and Tanvi. The lyrics are novel with the use of rich Tamil words.  Though not a great song, the song is a passable one.

Move your Body…Singer: Illaiyaraja, Lyrics: Dhanush
The song has some good dub step portions which are amazing. Ilaiyaraja. The song is a fast number with bits of hip-hop and dub step. Illaiyaraja ‘s singing shines in bits and parts. The lyrics by Dhanush are interesting.  The song can become additive on repeated listening.

Verdict : Decent album with 3 good cards
