Vanmham aka vanmam music review

Staring : Vijay Sethupathi, Kreshna, Sunaina

Director : Jaikrishna

Music : Thaman S

Production : Nemichand Jhabak

Vanhmam is Vijay Sethupathi's next multistarrer, alongside Krishna. The film stars Sunaina as the female lead and is directed by a newcomer. Thaman who is known for his (auto)tunes composes the music, here is how the album sounds.

Paadatta Paadatta : Singers - Velmurugan, Hariharasudhan, Lyrics - Yugabharathi

A plodding intro song to pave way to both the protagonists. Nothing is new here, just an old-fashioned kuthu track with the voices of Velmurugan and Hariharasudhan.

Aetti Enga Pora : Singers - Nivas, MM.Manasi, Lyrics - Yugabharathi ( PICK )

An interesting number from Thaman with reasonably nicely panned orchestrations and neat rendition. Nivas's vocals stand out, making this an interesting listen.

Manamey : Singers - Suchith Suresan, AV Pooja - Yugabharathi ( PICK )

Although the beat of the song is lifted directly from AR Rahman's Sandhosa Kanneere, Thaman manages to make this a worthy track. Most of the praise goes to the vocalists, who carry this track on their shoulders with the help of Yugabharathi's motivational lyrics . Thaman has kept the interludes simple, but they do work in favor of the song. Here's proof that he can churn out good numbers without autotune.

Raasa Raasa : Singers - MM.Monisha, Lyrics - Yugabharathi

An irritating end to the album. Skip this without second songs, for it is dreary song spoiled even further by the autotune.

Though the autotune tsunami bashes this album to an extent, Thaman has come up with decent songs in Manamey and Aetti Enga Pora. The saturation point has been breached for the composer, and its high time he comes up with innovative music. Otherwise, he better stick to the Telugu industry where he is a celebrated figure!

Verdict : Two good songs from Thaman in this toothless album.
